Glutamic acid is an amino acid with an acidic side group. It works as a proton donor. Decarboxylation of glutamic acid results in the formation of GABA (γ aminobutyric acid), a potent neurotransmitter.[1][2] Isoe labeled amino acids are required for the production of isoically labeled proteins.[3][4][5]
